Wowza!!! Answered questions I did not even know how to ask. While reading Susan Walker's book, it felt as if she had been listening in on my unspoken thoughts, shared all my deepest doubts, spoke to my heart of things I thought were only known by me and gave me wisdom of the kind only another soul could knows. Unlike her, I have never been an atheist and I almost did not read this book because I thought I could not relate.Relate I did--on sooo many levels!!! I was always a "seeker" from very young, looking for my pathway to my GOD. It took my husband dying for me to have found it. Knowing me as he did, he was always excited when he found "another one like you". He could not explain what he meant by this, but he was always inerrant in guiding me to people who were indeed, exactly like me. They may not actually have been a Baha i, but they were so much so, they were what I inherently knew to be of what I called "kindred spirits".Susan Walker' s description of her journey and discovery of the very nature of those Baha i s she found and the certainty she was in the right place at last, mirrored my same experience. I knew I was home. Read this book and see where it takes you. Be prepared for a paradigm shift of your tectonic plates.
The information shared by this lady was awe-inspiring to say the least. The change she made to her worldview through belief transformation from believing in no divine order to the universe to accepting in totality a Godhead and progressive Manifestations is truly remarkable. Her life story of family, dysfunction, pain, and realization of "something" greater than intellectual prowess is what we in this society need so desperately at this time. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an answer to their purpose in this world.
I have had an odd experience in reading this book. I acquired it a few years ago and read it quickly. Perhaps I did not even finish reading it. It did not impress me and I hardly remember anything from that reading of the book. A few years later, I was browsing titles in my Kindle and decided to re-read this book. This time it struck me very differently. You see, I have been struggling with certain tests and difficulties in my life, looking for a way to turn. Just by chance I found myself reading this book. The author describes her own suffering and her quest to find internal peace, truth, and meaning in life. It was very inspirational, just the thing I needed. So I recommend this book for lots of reasons--the several inspirational quotes; the author's inspirational viewpoint about accepting suffering and through it, learning and growing spiritually; her quest for truth; her discovery of a path that now guides her life.
This is an excellent book for anyone who is struggling with the concept of an after-life, and what it means to be a spiritual being having a human experience. Short read, and inspiring.
This a brief account, in a clear, direct style, of a wonderful awakening. I value stories like these as reminders of my own moments of clarity that led me to faith that I often forget in the day to day distractions of life.(Disclaimer: I became acquainted with the author after the events she recounts had transpired. Now I understand her radiant spirit better!)
She illustrates how the Buddhist idea of suffering can be brought into another spiritual context through the voice of the Baha'i Faith. The Baha'i faith has an "way" that speaks to the needs of this day just as Buddhism had in it's time. Both sharing timeless values that can support and lead us through life.
It was just vary interesting I was raised a Baha'I so I know that it is a true religion and not a cult like some believe
A heart warming account of life and faith. Honest and personal, it echoes the sufferings and journey of many. Thank you.
