Mays has taught writing and literature courses for 25 years ― at Stanford University (where she earned her Ph.D.), in the Harvard Expository Writing Program, at New Mexico State University, and (since 2001) at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she is now an Associate Professor of English.  A British literature specialist whose work has appeared in Victorian Studies, Victorian Poetry, Critical Inquiry, and other major scholarly journals, she is currently at work on a book exploring when and why nineteenth-century Britons began to label their age, their literature, and even themselves "Victorian."

I can't read further than 3 pages without falling asleep. The pages are thin like rice paper.Arrived promptly and is decent for holding with one hand. not much room for notes. I would not have purchased if I wasn't required to for class and the information is redundant and basic English reading/writing skills.
I love anthologies and this one is not an exception. I ordered this for my English class and I enjoyed the works in this book. There are good descriptions and helpful explanations to further your knowledge in the English subject. Also with a few abstract poems or stories or plays, there will be descriptions to guide you through the story. I recommend this anthology to other english classes as it will help the teachers and the students.
The book was great, but it should have said in the title that this is the SHORTER 11th edition, and not the regular. I bought this for a class, and my page numbers were constantly different than everyone else's.
If you searched for this book using the ISBN number, check carefully to make sure you want the "shorter edition." I had shipping issues and by the time this book finally arrived, it wasn't the full 11th edition. I don't know why this pops up when the ISBN number is used to search for it, because they have different ISBN numbers entirely. It did not include some of the pieces I needed to complete assignments, and the pieces I did use were in completely different spots than my syllabus said (due to being a different book altogether). Frustrating.
The book came quickly. Loved the price. The binding is coming loose but hey it’s $12. The only thing is that I just noticed while working on assignment that pages 125-134 are torn out. I hope I don’t need these pages for an assignment. Wish that had been told upfront. Otherwise everything is fine.
Purchased from Wayland Baptist University Bookstore as a textbook when my order from an amazon seller never arrived. Nevertheless, this is a great read and I'll keep it as such. Not only did we navigate the reading comprehension course together, I ended up delighted in meeting new authors and a greater love for the written word.
There are some writings on it in Korean. Perhaps the previous student was Korean. I speak Korean as well so the translation helped a little bit haha. The book wasn't in a great condition so I had to fix it up to stop it from falling apart and it felt very filthy and sticky.. but it gets my school work done.
This is most likely required for some kind of English class, as it was for me. Unfortunately, I was not a fan. The information included is far too basic and the anthology selections are not my favorite. However, if you know nothing about how to read literature, this book might be good for you.
