What a wonderful glimpse into a piece of history largely forgotten! Hearth has done her research, capturing not only the details of Jennings' case but the essence of the time period as well. Younger readers as well as adults will find this story of interest, and it would be a great piece to add into a school's curriculum. Thank you, Amy Hill Hearth, for giving Elizabeth Jennings another serving of well-deserved justice!
Excellent! I highly recommend this book to everyone regardless of age. Very good account of Elizabeth Jennings and her stand against segregated transit in NYC 100 years before Rosa Parks.

A masterpiece of history and personal triumph woven together. The research in this book is astounding as is the approach to the younger reader. However, any adult can gain a new insight into an event that had an impact on civil rights.
I am a teacher and think this book should be required reading for students in all grades. It is perfect for Black History Month! My wife did not grow up in North America, and English is not her native language. For her it is interesting to read about this event in history, written in a language that is easy to understand with many explanations. Thank you!
